One of the key takeaways from NERR's Open Gym Series is the abundance of younger players that, if they continue to develop, will leave Vermont basketball with very solid college prospects over the next several years. While most college coaches focus on the junior & senior classes as their primary sources for recruiting, the younger talent in the gym means that the future is bright in Vermont. Today, we will highlight the backcourt & frontcourt standouts for the Classes of…

Hamden Hall guard Jackson Benigni made a verbal commitment to Stonehill College on Monday. The Connecticut native, who ran with We-R1 in the Under Armour Association last spring and summer, had numerous division II offers along with a steady amount of division I interest. "I couldn't be happier with my decision because I know it's the best fit for me academically and athletically," Bengini told NERR. "I wouldn't be here today without my parents, [Hamden Hall] Coach Doherty, [Xavier] Coach…

NERR traveled north to Vermont on Friday to host the state’s inaugural Open Gym Series event. The night proved that the talent within the state’s borders is on the rise, and is an area that must be recruited by college coaches moving forward. Since his performance at last year’s Elite 75 Frosh/Soph, 2021 Michel Ndayishimiye has long been anointed the top college prospect in the state. He backed that assertion up on Friday night with his improved jump shot and…

Titles were won and championship belts earned on Sunday at the Battle for the Belt, the culmination of Zero Gravity’s Fall Circuit. In some ways, things are much the same for Waynflete School and Blue Wave Nation standout Dominick Campbell. Several months ago, the Portland, Maine native was a local big man, emphasis on the "big," with a reputation for his humility and willingness to be active in the community. In other ways, he is a new man, with new opportunities he once never imagined possible. A summer of basketball and physical transformation completed, he is now one of, if not the,…

In most parts of the country, grassroots basketball doesn't mean very much in the fall months. And in fact, that used to be the case in New England. That all changed several years ago when Zero Gravity introduced their Path to the Belt series, culminating with the Battle for the Belt, which crowned the undisputed fall champions in each respective age group. That tradition returns this weekend to punctuate what has already been an exciting season of basketball. The fields…

Some things are more important than basketball. At St. Thomas More though, where basketball has been a part of the school’s foundation for years, basketball is Jere Quinn and Jere Quinn is the face of the school. There was a period of time last spring where Quinn must have wondered if he would ever coach again. Long before the general public, or even the basketball community, knew he was dealing with Guillain-Barre Syndrome, he was hospitalized by the illness that…

Windsor High School alum and current Woodstock Academy post-grad Lawrence Foreman announced his verbal commitment to Rider University over the weekend. Foreman had been one of Woodstock’s biggest stock-risers from the fall open gym season and is also one of the most improved prospects in New England over the course of the last year. A native of Jamaica, Foreman first played for the St. Thomas More varsity team upon arriving in the U.S. before transferring to Windsor for his senior year…
