Johnson Earns Scholarship

Springfield, Massachusetts native Jared Johnson, who has spent the past two seasons at Cushing Academy, has made a verbal commitment to Carson-Newman College, a high level division II program in Tennessee.

Johnson, who originally planned to transfer to Wilbraham & Monson for his senior season, now plans to graduate from high school this year in order to rejoin the class of 2011 and head to college in the fall.

Johnson is a full division II qualifier and is expected to receive a four year scholarship at Carson-Newman.  He was also offered by division I East Tennessee State.

A well built guard with a versatile floor game, Johnson began his career at Springfield Central High School before transferring and reclassifying at Cushing Academy.  He has had an equally successful career on the AAU circuit, runningn with the BABC program and providing them with a scorer in the backcourt and defensive playmaker.
