Brandwijk Taking Visits
During the course of the last few weeks, the New England Recruiting Report has been profiling many of the region’s top available seniors in our Unsigned Series.
One senior who remains on the board but is in no need of extra recognition is Holderness forward Willem Brandwijk.
Brandwijk was one of the biggest stock risers of last summer’s July evaluation period, picking up a total of 16 division I scholarship offers after completing the month with his Metro Boston team.
Despite that flurry of interest and offers, Brandwijk’s recruitment hit a sudden pause following the summer as he traveled back to his home in the Netherlands and opted against taking any visits until his parents were able to join him.
“He had all those offers coming from the summer but with his time back home and difficulty arranging for his parents to make visits possible, due to geographic issues, some schools signed other guys, which was understandable,” said Metro Boston head coach Mauricio Vasquez.
Brandwijk finally took his first official visit this past weekend, traveling to Albany to visit Sienna College.
That was the first of three scheduled visits according to Vasquez with Brandwijk expected to travel to the University of Vermont later this week, followed by Elon University at the end of the month.
Drexel and San Francisco are also still in the mix according to Vasquez, although Brandwijk could opt to make his decision following his three planned visits.
