Akok Defends Top 60 Status
Putnam Science Academy forward Akok Akok retained his spot in the recently updated ESPN 60.
The ESPN 60 ranks the top prospects in the national junior class. Akok came in at #57 in the class of 2019, up two spots from where he sat following the summer.
The New Hampshire native had a break-out spring last year, pushing his recruitment to the highest levels, and has been playing at a high level this winter as well while taking on an increased role at PSA.
It's Akok's unique combination of length, skill, and athleticism that makes him so unique as he's only continued to evolve into a more dangerous floor spacer and three-point shooter while simultaneously asserting himself as a major defensive presence with his ability to protect the rim.
While Akok is the only remaining New England product listed in the ESPN 60, former Cheshire Academy big man Chol Marial maintained his five-star status despite being out with injury for the better part of the last nine months.
The ESPN 60 will grow to the ESPN 100 in just a few months and there are a number of other New England products in the class of 2019 that currently maintain four-star status that should make them among the primary candidates for those expanded rankings including Loomis Chaffee forward Jaiden Delaire, St. Andrew's guard and Syracuse commit Brycen Goodine, Brewster guard Sherif Kenney, Woodstock Academy big man Tre Mitchell, and MacDuffie's Ismael Massoud and James Bouknight.
