Abu, Terrell Cut Lists

Expressions Elite head coach Ty Boswell announced on Thursday night that both Abdul-Malik Abu and Jared Terrell had cut their list to 10 schools.

Abu is down to St. John’s, UCLA, Providence, UConn, Iowa State, Miami, Kentucky, Kansas State, Florida, and N.C. State according to Boswell, while Terrell has cut his list to Florida, UConn, Cincinnati, Providence, Miami, Oklahoma State, St. John’s, UCLA, Rhode Island, and Xavier.

That means that there are currently six schools – St. John’s, UCLA, Providence, UConn, Miami, and Florida – that are in contention for both prospects, while each is considering four independently – Iowa State, Kentucky, Kansas State, and N.C. State for Abu and Cincinnati, Oklahoma State, Rhode Island, and Xavier for Terrell.

It was at the 2011 New England Elite 75 Showcase that Abu and Terrell announced they intended to go to college together.  Since that time, they haven’t remained quite as adamant about the potential package deal, but haven’t publicly stated otherwise either.

Both players are consensus top 100 players in the country that have come up the ranks playing side by side on the grassroots circuit.

Ironically, their most recent announcement comes on the same weekend of what is expected to be their final grassroots tournament as rising seniors.  Expressions was currently alive heading into the semi-finals of the Live in A.C. Tournament and also scheduled to participate in this weekend’s Hoop Group Buzzer Beater Classic.
