There was a nice blend of talent in Yale’ gym on Sunday as the Hall of Fame’s Junior/Senior Showcase featured both some big names as well as some guys flying under the radar. • Thomas Knight was named the 22nd recipient of Maine’s Mr. Basketball award last week, which annually goes to the state’s top basketball player. Other finalists were Mick Distasio of Cheverus and Gordon Fischer of Camden Hills. On Monday, Suffield Academy's Anthony Simmons committed to Gannon University in Erie, PA. Gannon is the fifth ranked division II program in the country according to the last national poll. Simmons, a 6'8" 250 pound center, came to Suffield via Rochester, New York. Simmons arrived at Suffield coming off a huge senior campaign at Allendale-Columbia School, where he averaged 24.2 points, 13 rebounds, and just over 2 blocks per game and was named Second Team All State in New York. …

Trinity Makes Statement with Dominating Class L Win Trinity High School came into Saturday’s Class L championship game not just looking for a title, but also hoping to make a statement. They were able to do both as they easily defeated Manchester Memorial 50-25.
