Hoop Mountain Invitational – Saturday Recap

Hoop Mountain Invitational – Saturday Recap

Posted Friday, May 8th, 2009

Every year the Hoop Mountain Invitational seems to get a little bit better as the event has established itself as one of the premier AAU tournaments in the northeast.  This year was no different as college coaches lined the walls of Stonehill College’s Sally Blair Ames Complex.  Although division I coaches weren’t allowed to attend, there were over 75 coaches in attendance on Saturday and an especially strong presence from division II schools, as the NE-10 was out in full… READ MORE >

The class of 2011 has a new #1.  Or perhaps more accurately said, the former #1 regains his title.  However you slice it Naadir Tharpe again takes the top spot in New England after starting at the point guard position for Brewster Academy, one of the nation’s top prep schools, in his first year at the school and then having a terrific start to the AAU season.  Andre Drummond is the youngest player in the top five and may have… READ MORE >

April Wasn’t Live, But it Was Still Important

April Wasn’t Live, But it Was Still Important

Posted Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

The biggest misconception floating around the travel circuit so far this year is, “April wasn’t live, so it wasn’t important.” In reality nothing could be farther from the truth.  Sure, division I coaches were no longer allowed to be at the events that they used to pack into during three weekends in April.  But they were still paying attention…trust us.  Like most recruiting services, we were swamped with calls from college coaches over the last month, especially on the Monday… READ MORE >

Ledo Will Repeat Sophomore Year at St. Andrew’s

Ricardo Ledo has emerged as one of the region’s most talented young players in recent months.  First came a tremendous sophomore season at Bishop Hendricken which led to him being named second team all-state by both the Providence Journal and the Rhode Island Coaches Association.  Ledo was never better than in the division I state final where he scored an incredible 25 first half points to lead Hendricken to their sixth straight state title.  It’s been more of the same… READ MORE >

Lora Changes Mind; Albertus Magnus Gets Huge Steal

Albertus Magnus head coach Mitch Oliver has just landed arguably the biggest recruiting steal we’ve seen all year long in 6’7” big man Jefferson Lora.  Lora, who was originally a member of the class of 2010, committed to Central Connecticut earlier in the fall.  But after earning enough credits to graduate this year he has decided that he wants to go to college in September…and he wants to go to Albertus Magnus.  “It was my decision,” Lora told the New… READ MORE >

Ferguson Keeping It In The Family

Charlton Young has yet to coach a game on the Georgia Southern sidelines, but he has already scored a major victory for Eagles program. The newly appointed head coach pulled off a recruiting coup by convincing his godson, Winchendon’s Eric Ferguson, to verbally commit to him and the Georgia Southern program.  Ferguson is a 6’6” swingman who spent the past season at the Winchendon School in Massachusetts.  Earlier this spring, when he decided that he would be returning to Winchendon… READ MORE >

Carson Desrosiers is taking two unofficial visits this week as he’ll visit the campuses of Purdue and Marquette.  In addition to Purdue and Marquette he has also taken unofficial visits to Arizona State, Providence, Stanford, Syracuse, and UNLV.  All of those schools have offered scholarship as have many others.  “He has many other offers, but at this point these schools seem to be the ones to intrigue him the most,” Rivals head coach Vin Pastore said of the schools which… READ MORE >
