2011 Rankings Released

The class of 2011 has a new #1.  Or perhaps more accurately said, the former #1 regains his title.  However you slice it Naadir Tharpe again takes the top spot in New England after starting at the point guard position for Brewster Academy, one of the nation’s top prep schools, in his first year at the school and then having a terrific start to the AAU season. 

Andre Drummond is the youngest player in the top five and may have the highest upside when it’s all said and done.  The Connecticut native holds down the second spot in our updated list. 

Holding firm at #3 is Hotchkiss’ Derrick Wilson.  The Alaska native has been running with the New York Gauchos 17 and under team on the AAU circuit and earning rave reviews in the process helping them to the King James Classic title. 

Shabazz Napier enters the 2011 rankings for the first time after being officially listed in that grade at Lawrence Academy.  The sharp-shooting point guard had a very strong high school season and was never better than in the National Prep Invitational in February. 

Rounding out the top five is St. Andrew’s Mike Carter-Williams.  After an up and down first year in Rhode Island, Carter-Williams is off to a great start to the AAU season with his BABC squad. 

The rest of New England's top ten is rounded out by #6 Egi Gjikondi (who will be in 2012 upon reclassifying next year at Cushing), #7 Fred Wilson coming off a breakout sophomore year at Hillhouse, #8 Anthony Jernigan who has missed all of the AAU season thus far with injury but is expected back soon, #9 James Kennedy who will shoot up this list if and when he can become more consistent, and #10 Joe Sharkey from Northfield Mount Hermon School.
