The top 200 players in New England’s class of 2009 have now been ranked, along with 50 in Connecticut and Massachusetts, 40 in New Hampshire, 30 in Maine, and 15 in Rhode Island and Vermont.  And once again sitting atop the list is Alex Oriakhi, Erik Murphy, and Jamal Coombs-McDaniel.  The debate has raged on for the last four years about where these players should fall in the pecking order, and there are a number of valid arguments.  But what… READ MORE >

Demetri Lewis, Johnnie Vassar, Jonathan Joseph, Juwan Gooding (pictured above), Aaron Calixte, Charles Correa, Justin McDonald, Colin Richey, and Cornelius Tyson all stood out as players who have the talent and potential to be stars down the road.  Lewis showed arguably better leadership ability than any other player as he was vocal with his teammates, constantly working, and tremendously unselfish.  He’s also a uniquely talented playmaker with a terrific feel for the game.  Vassar is a super smooth and composed… READ MORE >

Jeff Goodman of Fox Sports recently released his national transfer list.  Goodman’s list is widely anticipated by college coaches every year because he’s the only known member of the media who puts together such an all encompassing list.  One of the names on this list, UMass’ Matt Glass has already found a new home, or an old home as the case may be, as he is heading back to his home state to play for the University of Vermont.  Glass,… READ MORE >

New Englanders have known Rashad Wright’s name for years as he was identified early in his high school career at Cathedral High School in Springfield, Massachusetts as a young player with lots of potential.  But for a long time, the big man had trouble realizing that potential.  He began to turn a corner about a year ago when he showed a renewed focus for the game, a commitment to developing into a major defensive presence, and a quickly emerging low… READ MORE >

Ramon Gibbons and Timmance McKinney were men among boys on Saturday afternoon.  Both are blessed with tremendous strength and athleticism that simply puts them at another level when compared to kids in their own age bracket.  But beyond their physical assets, both players showed some of the tools necessary to become stars down the road.  The thing that stood out the most for Gibbons was his unselfishness.  He was perfectly capable of creating his own shot every time down the… READ MORE >

Perhaps no player in the gym had as much upside as 6’7” 8th grader Goodluck Okonoboh (pictured above).  Okonoboh is Alex Oriakhi’s cousin and he plays a lot like the UConn bound big man as he has many of the same physical gifts along with a knack for blocking shots and finishing with dunks around the rim.  He lacks any type of awkwardness that characterizes many young big kids and instead is already flying above the rim.  He’s also got… READ MORE >

Jon Goldberg and Nick Meunier have made a great tandem over the years.  They’ve starred together for Rice Memorial High School in Vermont, leading the school to the division I state title in their senior year.  The duo has also been side by side on the AAU circuit as well, as both were centerpieces of the Lone Wolf program for the last few years.  Now Goldberg and Meunier will look to reproduce their success on the college level as both… READ MORE >

Worcester Nabs Local Duo Tyler Olander and Billy Baron are headed to Worcester Academy next season.  Olander will repeat his junior season while Baron will be doing a post-graduate year following his graduation from Bishop Hendricken (RI).  The move to the class of 2011 will almost certainly propel Olander’s recruitment to the highest levels, as he was already beginning to generate interest from high-major schools before reclassifying.  The 6’9” forward has always been intriguing because of his combination of size… READ MORE >
