Eastern Connecticut Completes ClassFresh off a 24-6 season and a run to the Sweet Sixteen of the Division III NCAA tournament, Eastern Connecticut is bringing in another talented recruited class. Just two years after the New England Prep School Athletic Council went through a momentous realignment, there are more changes coming to the nation’s premier post-graduate basketball league. Two of the eight programs that made up the NEPSAC’s highest division, Class AAA, will be leaving the group immediately next year as both the Winchendon School and Maine Central Institute have adopted new philosophies with regard to prep school basketball. Rhode Island head coach Danny Hurley continues to strike the transfer market in order to rebuild Rhody's talent base. The most recent prospect to commit to Hurley is DeShon Minnis, a six-foot-three lead guard who spent his freshman season at Texas Tech. The commitment was first reportted by SNY's Adam Zagoria. Logan Mortenson, a six-foot-seven skilled face-up four-man from St. John's Northwest Military Academy, made a verbal commitment to the University of New Hampshire on Wednesday night and is expected to sign a National Letter of Intent on Thursday. St. John's has made two trips to New England this year, traveling to both the National Prep Showcase and the National Prep School Invitational. Wednesday marked Connecticut's second verbal commitment of the last week as Leon Tolsdorf committed to head coach Jim Calhoun after visiting the campus on Tuesday. The six-foot-seven Tolksdorf played for ALBA Berlin II this past season, averaging 5.2 points and 14.2 minutes per game. When Patrick Steeves first arrived at the Hotchkiss School, he reclassified to the class of 2013 and quickly picked up scholarship offers from the likes of Xavier and Penn State.
