Rivers’ General Makes Call
Rivers senior point guard Carlin Haymon made a verbal commitment to Brandeis University on Tuesday morning according to Rivers' head coach Andrew Mirken.
The five-foot-nine point guard has been the backbone of the Rivers' program since his freshman year and has gone on to earn all-New England and all-ISL honors in each season since.
"I chose Brandeis becaucse of the amazing combination of academics and athletics," Haymon said. "Coach Meehan has been recruiting me for two years and I felt really comfortable with the staff and players at the school."
Haymon is a playmaking point guard capable of coming right in and making immediate contributions within the University Athletic Association, one of the top division III conferences in the country.
"I wanted to stay close to home so my friends and family could come see me play and attend a top 20 college in the USA," Haymon said.
Haymon is the latest in a long line of scholarship caliber local talents to commit to Brandeis in recent years joining the likes of Derek Retos, Youri Dascy, Ben Bartoldus, Ishmael Kalilou, and several others.
