NMH’s Everson is D1 Bound

Northfield Mount Hermon and New York Lightning Select forward Jorn Everson announced a verbal commitment to Army West Point on Tuesday evening.

Everson is originally from North Dakota and arrived at NMH last year in the midst of the pandemic.

A skilled, inside-out forward and potential mismatch problem, he is a versatile player. Far more than that though, his maturity and intangibles are off the charts. He is an elite teammate, plays extremely hard every time he's on the floor, and has a total understanding of his team's system and objectives.

"Jorn is an energy giver. Every practice is better because of his energy. His teammates are better because of his selfless enthusiasm. He has made the NMH basketball program better and we expect he'll do the same for Army West Point's program," said NMH head coach John Carroll.

"Jorn's ability to play either the three or the four makes him a match-up nightmare. He can also guard multiple positions and is one of the most coachable players that I have ever coached. He will have an immediate impact at Army on and off the court as a leader," said Rens United director Jesse Shapiro.

He becomes the 8th member of NMH's 2022 class to finalize his recruitment and the 6th member to commit to a division I school.
