Miranda Moving Onto NC State
Rhode Island Elite big man Isaiah Miranda announced his commitment yesterday to North Carolina State. He will be heading to Raleigh next week while being eligible to compete in games during the second semester.
Miranda began his high school career at Tolman. He transferred to The Phelps School in Pennsylvania for the start of the 2019-20 academic year while also moving into the class of 2023.
After playing two years for the Lions and making clear improvements in his game, Miranda chose to leave. This was in correlation with Phelps head coach Trey Morin taking a new job in Texas. Miranda would be coming back to New England at Springfield Commonwealth Academy.
In Miranda’s only season at SCA, he helped lead them to the AAA Power 5 Conference Championship Game. With head coach Antonio Anderson deciding to leave after the year and lead Busche Academy’s program, Miranda decided to play his last season of prep school in Los Angeles for Southern California Academy.
An unfortunate injury shortened his time at SCA, including having to miss the recent National Prep Showcase in New Haven.
Miranda played his AAU basketball with Rhode Island Elite. Participating in the top independent events in the country with this program led by Nick Light and Nuri Mahmoud played a key role in him getting his name out on a national stage.
He talked about on 247Sports live broadcast what made NC State the right choice for him. Miranda stated, “I feel like I am ready to be developed by Coach Keatts and his staff. They have a long history of developing pros in the past and I feel like I can be up next. Their fast paced offense and how much they are determined on defense fits my playing style really well.”
