Filipowski Commits to Duke
Wilbraham and Monson Academy and New York Rens' big man Kyle Filipowski announced his commitment to Duke on Thursday.
The news was broken by SportsCenter on twitter.
Filipowski is the top prospect in New England's class of 2021 and one of the most skilled big men in the country.
He had earned recruitment from the very top programs in college basketball before ultimately becoming the first player to commit to Duke's head-coach-in-waiting Jon Scheyer.
“Coach K Retiring didn’t change how I felt about Duke. I’ve been building this relationship with Coach Scheyer for over six months now ant the vision he has, not just for me but for my class, is something that I can envision myself in. I believe in him and what he is planning," he said. "I think being a part of that and helping him make his own name at Duke would be something very special for both of us. I just wanted to carry on the dynasty of Duke, but also create a foundation with Coach Scheyer.”
