Birch Named 2nd Team All USA Today
Notre Dame Prep's Khem Birch received his latest honor on Wednesday as he was named a second team All-American by USA Today.
The six-foot-nine two-hundred-and-five pound big man averaged 18 points, 13 rebounds, and 6 blocks per game this year, leading Notre Dame to the finals of the National Prep Championships and earning a spot in the McDonald's All-American Game.
The Canadian native began the year in the class of 2012 before opting to skip his planned post-graduate year and signing a National Letter of Intent with Pittsburgh during the early signing period.
The USA Today first team consistented of Austin Rivers, Michael Gilchrist, Anthony Davis, Bradley Beal, and James McAdoo. The second team included Birch, Shabazz Muhammad, Myles Mack, Perry Ellis, and Cody Zeller. The third team featured Johnny O'Bryant, Kyle Wiltjer, Tyrone Johnson, Shannon Scott, Marquis Teague, and Dorian Finney-Smith.
St. Anthony's Bob Hurley was named the national coach of the year.
