2024-25 Prep Profile Series: Newman School

The Newman School of Boston has quickly found success as a newly established basketball program competing in the highest tier of the NEPSAC. Last season, they earned a spot in the National Prep Championship bracket and made a strong run in the AAA playoffs. Despite losing several players to the college ranks, the team has reloaded and is ready to compete again this season.

Let’s take a closer look at the roster.

The Class of 2025

The 2025 class includes six players, with three returners and three incoming postgrads.

Headlining the newcomers is Jalen Harper, a guard from Philadelphia who arrives in Boston with several Division One offers. Harper brings a gritty style to the guard spot with his strength and relentless ability to finish at the rim. Joining him are Texas natives Riley Dering and Donovan Lee. Dering’s rebounding and above-the-rim play recently earned him offers from Army and Navy, while Lee is a dynamic guard who can run the offense and create plays for his teammates.

Among the returning seniors are Aidan Losiewicz, Carson McDonald, and Reggie Grodin. Losiewicz is garnering high-academic interest thanks to his bouncy play at guard, while Grodin’s impressive shot-making ability has led to a few A-10 offers. Meanwhile, 6’9” forward Carson McDonald's two-way interior skills have been gaining attention during open gym season, with scholarship offers from American University and Mercyhurst University.

The Class of 2026

Collins Chidera Onyejiaka leads the way as a dominant interior presence. Whether it’s on offense or defense, his physicality and rim-running skills make him a key player, and he’s starting to make waves nationally. Fellow 6’9” stretch forward Quinn Costello returns as well, continuing to boost his recruitment with notable strides made in his game. Chase Geremia's his three-level scoring ability and pull-up shooting prowess is another offensive weapon for the team.

Newcomers Bennett White and Lucas Morillo are two noteworthy transfers who will play significant roles this season. Both are 6’7” wings with a combination of outside shooting ability and the versatility to put the ball on the floor and finish around the basket. With schools already in the mix, their development within the program will be one to watch as they continue to channel their high upside.

Guards Louis O'Keefe and Timmy Bollin also figure to play key roles. O’Keefe, a 6’4” point guard from Nashville, arrives with multiple Division One offers, thanks to his playmaking ability and three-level scoring. Bollin, a transfer from St. Sebastian’s School in Needham, is known for his high motor and slashing ability, along with his passing and high-academic potential.

Other names to watch from the 2026 class include Brendan Mathey, Kabir Narasimhan, Kaden Bedard, Ryan Meltzer, and Trey Grant, all of whom are entering their first season with the Newman School.

Key 2027 Players

Two sophomores to watch are guards Duke Clement and Xavier Sanchez. Clement is a well-rounded point guard who can run the offense effectively, while Sanchez has impressed as a quick, ball-handling scorer.

Forwards Christopher Taylor and Preston Bollin round out the roster for the sophomore class. Taylor has significant upside as he continues to develop his offensive skillset, while Bollin, a playmaking forward, has already had numerous standout performances.
