July 2026 RI Ranking Revision

The state of Rhode Island brings us to the conclusion of our July state-by-state ranking revision.

As the year progresses, these rankings are likely to change as we gain more exposure to prospects and more players on this list emerge as their abilities come into their own.

To kick things off at the top, Dywane Chess out of the St. George's School maintains a hold of the number one spot in the ranking.

The Pennsylvania native enters his third season under Dwayne Pina with high expectations coming his way. Following the graduations of Barrett Loer, Dylan Veillette, Allyn Wright, and YanCarlos Cueto, Chess will assume a leadership role on a younger squad that showed this June they are ready to go.

Chess is a bruiser in the backcourt who can play on the wing as well, with his defensive motor and strength to guard multiple positions. His work in the weight room allows him to take the ball to the basket and power through defenders to score it at will. Turning into more of a consistent shooter from the perimeter has been the consensus take that is needed in his game to see his recruitment move up a level.

Second in the ranking is a newcomer to Saint Andrew's but a familiar face in New England in Harrison Aligbe.

The 6'8" forward comes from a bloodline full of college basketball players and has carved out his own budding reputation up to this point.

Joining a young St. Andrew's squad he figures to assume a primary role right away in his lone, final season with the squad. Aligbe excels at being a quick, switchable defensive asset that can hold his own guarding players across multiple positions. His outside shot has made some strides in the three seasons we've had to view him by now, and his playmaking is another strong part of his game.

The third spot in the rankings belongs to Classical High School's Eliezer Delbrey.

The 6'1" guard has built up a massive reputation playing in the Rhode Island State Association throughout his career. He's a microwave scorer who can really get things going in an instant with his athletic inside finishing and pull-up shooting off the dribble. Entering his senior year this season, he's earned plenty of All-State recognition and surpassed the 1,000 point plateau already.

Nicholas Tarro comes in fourth in the ranking as the LaSalle wing is another top RIIL rising senior who has really made things happen up to this point.

Tarro will be considered one of the top players in the state this season, along with Delbrey. He's a 6'3" wing that has a ton of finesse to his game to get to his spots around the basket and finish through contesting defenders. He can knock down shots, zip passes, and has some likeable versatility on the defensive end.

Josh Bergeron rounds out the top five for the state as he fights back from a leg injury and hopes to be back at full strength by the start of his senior year. The guard has made a name for himself as being a driller from the perimeter, but prior to his injury his floor vision to create for others and move the ball was starting to come around, as well as his handle off the dribble.
