Tabales Takes Bryant in ‘25

One of Massachusetts’ most accomplished and under-the-radar point guards is officially off the board.

Ty Tabales, a high-IQ, sharp-shooting lead guard with a reputation for winning and work ethic has announced his commitment to Bryant University after reclassifying back into his original class of 2025.

Tabales’ basketball journey has been marked by grit, growth, and consistent success at every level. He made his first major impact at Worcester North High School, where he played a strong role for the first team to ever win a state championship in Worcester. In his sophomore season, Tabales led the Polar Bears to a 24-1 record and the school's first MIAA  Division 1 State championship, playing alongside young stars Amir Jenkins and Tahlan Pettway

According to Tables the highlight of his career is “when we won the state championship” and this was due to the fact that “we were the first in city history to do so.”

As part of his team’s backcourt, Tabales alongside Jenkins orchestrated the offense with poise well beyond their years. He combined lightning-quick change-of-pace with strong decision-making, rarely turning the ball over and consistently finding ways to put his teammates in positions to succeed. When the game tightened, Tabales never shied away from the moment, knocking down clutch threes and leading late-game possessions with confidence. He was consistently an elite shooter throughout his career.

But Ty didn’t just shine in the high school scene. Over the past few years, he’s also been a standout with the well known Middlesex Magic program on the UAA circuit, finishing 3rd this past Spring. Competing against and with top talent from across the region and country, Tabales continued to showcase himself as one of the steadiest guards in New England. His combination of shiftiness, court vision, and elite shooting has made him a tough cover for even the best defenders.

Looking to challenge himself further, Tabales transferred to the New Hampton School for the 23–24 season and reclassified to 2026, joining a nationally respected prep program loaded with Division 1 talent. On a team featuring names like Keyshuan Tillery (Cincinnati), Mason Blackwood (Penn State), and Naz Myer (Wyoming), he embraced a complementary role of coming off the bench, running second units, and continuing to evolve as a complete guard. The experience allowed him to grow in new ways such as adjusting to higher speed and physicality, improving as a defender, and learning how to impact winning even when the ball isn’t in his hands.

This upcoming season he was looking to be the star for New Hampton with some good transfers as well as some returning players to make another run to the NEPSAC Championship. His play for the Middlesex Magic raised his stock immensely as well as his showing at both NEPSAC showcases in June, resulting in him earning the number 2 spot in our latest New Hampshire 2026 rankings He began to receive Division 1 offers for his play from schools such as Holy Cross, Fairfield, URI, and many more.

Following his strong Spring performance, Tabales made the decision to reclassify back to his original class of 2025, giving himself another year to develop, compete, and prepare for the next level. In the end, Bryant University stood out as the perfect fit.

For Tabales, Bryant offers a chance to play in a fast-paced, guard-oriented system that values toughness, tempo, and shot-making which are all traits that define his game. With a coaching staff that believes in him and a program on the rise, the Bulldogs are getting a battle-tested point guard who brings leadership, championship experience, and one of the smoothest shots in the region.

Tabales is “excited to get experience playing at the level I’ve always dreamed of playing at” and he is also looking forward to playing “under a great coaching staff with a strong foundation of guys around me.”

Bryant is getting more than just a point guard—they’re getting a culture guy. Someone who’s proven he can lead a powerhouse, adapt to new environments, and contribute on winning teams across every level he’s played.

With his path now leading to Division 1 basketball, Ty Tabales remains the same player he’s always been: humble, hungry, and ready for whatever comes next.
