We've added four more names to the #E75 Frosh/Soph list so far this week - Hotchkiss School and Riverside Hawks forward Will Groot, Malden Catholic and Team Spartans big man Nahkeem Singleton, Suffield Academy and Expressions Elite wing Owen Moreira, and Academy of Pacific Rim and BABC freshman forward Nyzohn Small. That leaves exactly 30 spots left up for grabs as we'll continue to select deserving prospects based on what we've seen during the Be Seen Tour and the NERR-TV…

Rami Hahami may be a New York native, but he's already putting up big number in the New England prep school. He stuffed all columns of the stat sheet during his sophomore campaign at the Groton School, earning post-season accolades in the process, and was poised for an even bigger junior season before the implications of the pandemic. He's had similar success playing AAU basketball and reports having already received some early interest from D1 and D3 programs. Prospect Profile…

Four more names were added to the Elite 75 Frosh/Soph list earlier this week as Malden Catholic and Expressions wing Jahmari Hamilton-Brown, Kingswood-Oxford and New York Lightning forward Jack Nieradko, Millbrook School and PSA Cardinals big man Lucius Gibson-Savadel, and MacDuffie and BABC guard Joey Thomas were all introduced. That still leaves close to half of the spots still up for grabs as we continue to identify the region's top underclassmen based on what we've seen during the Be…

Xavier Purnell is a 6-foot-2 post-graduate guard at the MacDuffie School in Massachusetts. He graduated from Brooke Point High School in Stafford, Virginia where he played two years of varsity basketball and was voted team captain in both seasons. Purnell was awarded First Team All-District and All-Conference in his county as a senior, which led to interest from Air Force and a few D3 schools. However, he hasn't had the chance to prove himself since arriving in New England because…

The Coaches vs Cancer initiative took place this week, January 25-31, but the events and fundraising dollars weren't anywhere near as frequent as they have been in recent years as the pandemic has cut that number by 70%. In the latest episode of The Upside Podcast, we visit with Brian Casalinova from the American Cancer Society and longtime St. Joseph's head coach, and current Michigan assistant, Phil Martelli. This is a short podcast that underscores the importance of giving whatever…

Diego Velez is originally from New York, but he's been making his presence felt in New England on the junior boarding school landscape since last year as an 8th grader when he put up big numbers for an Eaglebrook team that went 21-5. Velez isn't just a basketball player though, although that is his first passion. He also plays quarterback for the football team in the fall and lacrosse in the spring. Next year, he's looking forward to transitioning to…

That still leaves more than half of the spots still up for grabs as we continue to identify the region's top underclassmen based on what we've…

Northfield Mount Hermon and New Heights big man Jake Tavroff made a verbal commitment to Columbia University on Wednesday. NMH has a long tradition of sending prospects to prestigious academic schools, particulary in the Ivy League, and this commitment solidifies that every game played in that league during the 2021-22 season will have at least one NMH alum on the floor. Tavroff is a Long Island native who arrived at NMH three years ago. While he battled various nagging injuries in…

The St. Andrew's School may be known for their guards, but head coach Mike Hart has quietely developed a number of big men who have gone on to play, and thrive at the D1 level. There's no lack of size on this year's team either with Matt Fegurur, Jordan Brathwaite, and Michael Katsock all along the frontlines. The future up front though is sophomore Patrick Spenard, a 6-foot-8 big man who has impressed since his arrival and made rapid strides…

In a normal year, Matt Garside's progression would have already been well-known by now. The young guard who played JV a year ago, albeit putting up huge stats in the process, has grown, both physically and within the game. If we had a normal travel season, or a normal start to the high school season, those gains would have been immediately evident. Nonetheless, when the time comes that we do get back on the floor on a full-time basis, Garside's…
