Williams Makes Pick
Vermont Academy post-graduate swingman Rich Williams made a verbal commitment to Hofstra on Monday, making an announcement at the Big Apple Classic, where his Vermont Academy team traveled to play Massanutten Military Academy.
Williams is a New York native who graduated from Transit Tech High School and made a big name for himself on the summer grassroots circuit with his New York Lightning team after having missed the 2011 summer with a leg injury.
His recruitment only continued to rise this fall after arriving at Vermont, before he ultimately trimmed his list down to St. Bonaventure, Hofstra, Kent State, and St. Peter's.
His commitment comes on the heels of an impression showing on Sunday at the Hoophall Classic, in which he led Vermont with 19 points and 9 rebounds, showing some of the explosiveness that makes him so intriguing at the wing position.
Williams has all the size and athleticism to have a high upside down the road. He's proven himself capable of making shots from behind the three-point line and has a reputation for making high caliber plays.
Williams joins Daquein McNeil to become the second Vermont Academy to commit to a division I school so far this season.
