Wagner Scores with Senat
Bashir Mason had a front row seat for the last two years as Danny Hurley took Wagner’s basketball program to unprecedented heights, delivering wins on the recruiting front as well as on the hardwood.
When Hurley left to take over at the University of Rhode Island, Mason got the bump to the big chair. On Tuesday, he proved himself capable of landing recruiting steals of his own with a verbal commitment from Marianapolis Prep big man Greg Senat.
Senat is a New York native who arrived at Marianapolis last year as a junior but took his recruitment to new levels this summer with an outstanding showing on the AAU circuit with Metro Boston.
The six-foot-eight big man returned to Marianapolis this fall having shed over 20 pounds from his frame while adding over a dozen division I scholarship offers.
That trend has only continued in the two months since as Senat’s recruitment has escalated as high as the Atlantic 10 Conference.
His commitment is a steal for Wagner not just because of the high level of competition for his services, but because he provides a rare combination of power and mobility rarely found in the Northeast Conference.
