Vonleh Lands Kansas Offer

While Noah Vonleh has been a well known commodity in local New England circles since first appearing on the high school exposure scene as a freshman, his sophomore year will certainly go down as the time that he broke out on the national level.

It began earlier this fall when Boston College head coach Steve Donahue made a trip to the Haverhill High School gym and shortly afterward became the first high-major coach to offer the young forward.  Pittsburgh quickly followed suit and gave Vonleh a second offer while Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim has also made the trip.

In January, Vonleh made his debut on the ESPNU Terrific 25, scoring a seat among the top twenty-five sophomore prospects in the entire country.  Then, less than two weeks ago, Kansas associate head coach Joe Dooley became the latest coach to come through the doors at Haverhill High School.  He obviously liked what he saw as Jayhawks’ head coach Bill Self extended an early offer on Tuesday night.

From a recruiting standpoint, an offer from Kansas is a break of the ice, meaning multiple offers are likely to follow.  Simply put, if you’re good enough for Kansas you’re good enough for just about anyone else and that certainly seems to the case for this talented youngster.

Incredibly, Vonleh is just 15 years old and still only scratching the surface of his potential.  While his body and skill set continue to expand on a consistent basis, he has a long way to go before maximizing all of his tools and undoubtedly many more offers to land in the process.
