Vonleh is One-and-Done
Indiana freshman Noah Vonleh told CBS Sports that he would declare for this June's NBA Draft following his freshman season at Indiana.
The New England product is a native of Haverhill, Massachusetts and just one year removed from his senior season at the New Hampton School, which culminated with his selection to both the McDonald's All-American Game as well as the Jordan Brand Classic.
Ironically, Vonleh was once a part of the 2014 class, after reclassifying upon his transfer to New Hampton, meaning he could have still been playing at the high school level this season.
Instead, the Mass Rivals product took the Big 10 by storm this season before running away with the conference's Rookie of the Year honors.
The top ranked player in NERR's final 2013 rankings, Vonleh is currently projected as a concensus lottery pick by every major authority on the NBA Draft.
ESPN's Chad Ford currently ranks him as the 8th best prospect in the draft on his Big Board while Draft Express projects him going 7th overall. NBADraft.net has Vonleh currently going 6th overall in the draft to the Boston Celtics.
Vonleh becomes potentially the third New England product to be a one-and-done lottery pick in as many years.
Former St. Thomas More and Connecticut Basketball Club big man Andre Drummond was taken with the 9th overall pick in 2012 after one season at UConn and has starred for the Detroit Pistons ever since, currently averaging 13 points and nearly 13 rebounds and 2 blocks per game.
Last year it was former Tilton and BABC big man Nerlens Noel who went 6th overall to the New Orleans Hornets before being dealt to the Philadelphia 76'ers. The six-foot-eleven big man has yet to make his NBA debut while continuing to recover from a torn ACL.
South Kent and Expressions swingman Ricardo Ledo is another local one-and-done product from the 2013 NBA Draft after having to sit his only season at Providence. Ledo was selected by the Dallas Mavericks with the 43rd overall pick and subsequently signed to a multi-year deal with two guaranteed seasons.
