Summer in the City Standouts
As you have seen on our website the New England Recruiting Report is expanding into New York. The recent coverage of the Summer in the City tournament is a sampling of what you can expect. We will try to bring the same quality that you have come to expect from NERR. The wealth of HS talent in the New York area as well as a little of New Jersey will be an added addition to the NERR product.
Here is a rundown of who opened eyes of the numerous college coaches in attendance.
The Rise team based out of New York had an impressive showing as they made it to the u17 championship game in the South division, where they lost to New Heights. The coach of Rise, known in the NY hoop circuit as JR showed the ability to get his team to play together on the offensive and defensive sides of the floor in this one day tournament.
Osamuede Egharevba- 6”6 2010 player a strong defender who can get to the basket as well as hit the outside shot consistently. 10 schools have been very interested as well as Sienna, Iona, and Niagara.
Marcus Hopper- 6”8 2011 from Holy Cross High school. Is a tremendous rebounder who can drain the 3. Also can hit the mid range shot. This upcoming season could be special for this player.
Amby Fall- 6”6 2012 Washington Irving H.S. Can put the ball on the floor and hits the glass really well. The sky is the limit for this young player.
With all of the Philadelphia based programs in the crowd you knew there was a Philly team to be reckoned with. Team Philly coached by Lonnie Lowry made it to the u17 South semi where they lost to Rise. This game attracted a lot of attention from the college coaches.
Juanya Green- 6’3 2011 Archbishop Carroll HS. Playmaker who gets to the basket. A major stud. Strong and explosive. Villanova, Penn State, Virginia Tech, LaSalle ,Temple and St Joe’s to name a few have interest.
Erik Copes- 6”8 2011 IMHOTEP Institute Charter. A shot blocking and rebounding machine. Would look good in the George Washington, Temple, St Joe’s, Penn State uniforms who at this point have inquired. More and more schools will be getting involved quickly.
