Stockmal Brothers Doing it Differently
The Stockmal brothers have been very busy in the month of June, and they will be even busier in the month of July. The twins have spent the last several weeks traveling to and from a variety of Ivy League elite camps. They went from Yale to Columbia to Princeton and finally to Cornell this weekend.
After taking a couple of quick days off to recuperate early next week, they will quickly be at it again. It will begin at Hoop Mountain’s Super Week II from July 6th – 9th. They will have to leave a little early on the 9th in order to get to New Jersey for Eastern Invitational Team Camp where they will compete with their teammates from Watertown High School (MA) on July 9th and the 10th. On the 11th they will head to Brandeis University for the Hoop Mountain Academic All-American Camp which will run until the 13th.
For the second half of the live period they will return to Eastern Invitational for their Academic Elite Camp from July 24th – 27th. The Stockmals will stay at the College of New Jersey from the 28th – 31st for session four of the Eastern Invitational Basketball Camp.
They’ll get to catch their breath in August although they’re likely to attend the Dartmouth Elite camp as well as the New England Elite 75 Showcase.
While this schedule might be a little too much for the average player, the Stockmals are anything but average. Whether it be on the court, in the classroom, or in the weight room, the twins are two of the hardest working and best trained student athletes you will find.
But that isn’t the only thing that makes them unique. They are also have an “old school” feel to their game as they can think the game like few others. That may have never been better exhibited than at the Princeton Elite Camp where they not only picked up the Princeton offense quickly, but also thrived in the system as their ability to spread the floor and read the defense was immediately apparent.
That is the first of many reasons why the Stockmal brothers may be best suited for the Ivy League. They are also both terrific students who have high GPAs and excellent SAT scores. Finally, and perhaps most important, they are gym rats.
Having guys who love to play the game is important in any conference, but it is crucial in the Ivy League. With all of the opportunities that student athletes have off the floor in the Ivy League it is easy for them to lose interest in the basketball court and begin to focus on their future after college. You can bet that won’t be an issue for the Stockmals as they will be driven to succeed on and off the floor no matter where they end up.
