Stevens Bound for Holy Cross

Jack Stevens made a verbal commitment to Holy Cross on Tuesday.

The six-foot-ten big man had starred for the Kent School and Metro Boston in recent years, picking up scholarship offers from the likes of Army, UMBC, Appalachian State and Kennesaw State by the end of the July evaluation period.

Stevens made one more summer stop last weekend, attending Holy Cross' second session of elite camp and it turned out to be a good decision as he played well enough to land an offer from the Crusaders.

The offer wasn't on the table for long as the upstate New York native offered his commitment by Tuesday afternoon.

Stevens is the first player to commit to new Holy Cross head coach Bill Carmody in the class of 2016 and figures to be a very good fit for the coach's system.

While Stevens has played both the four and the five spots in recent years, Carmody's offensive system is one that requires their big man to spend quite a bit of time playing on the perimter, both at the elbow and top of the key, while being an especially good passer.

That's a role Stevens should fit into seemlessly. He's a fundamentally sound and skilled big man with good footwork, an impressive passing instinct, excellent mid-range jumper and continuously improving three-point range.
