Sebastian Wilkins’ Big Move

Just now, Sebastian Wilkins went on the 247Sports livestream with our founder, Adam Finkelstein, and announced his commitment to the Duke Blue Devils and his reclassification to the class of 2025.
The Brewster Academy and Mass Rivals product has been on a tear over the past year, despite being a top player in his class in the area upon entering the high school level.
At the start of his high school career, Wilkins, a native of Canton Massachusetts, enrolled at Lawrence Academy.
There, he earned two consecutive All-NEPSAC nominations in the two seasons he spent before moving up north to Brewster.
Outside of school however, Wilkins was a core piece, and undoubtedly the youngest, to a star laden Mass Rivals 17u team. While the team was full of names such as Kur Teng, Andre Mills, Bryce Dortch, Jordan Clayton, Jayden Ndjigue, and more, Wilkins was a consistent component to the success they had which includes a 37-7 2022 season.
In the start of September of his sophomore year, Wilkins would receive his first division one offer from Rutgers University. By October, the Providence Friars and UMass Minutemen had extended offers his way as well.
By the end of February of his sophomore year, Wilkins had eclipsed the 1,000 point mark at Lawrence Academy.
In the midst of another strong grassroots season, Wilkins announced his commitment to Head Coach Jason Smith and the Brewster Bobcats on May 23rd, 2023.
When the fall of 2023 came around, Wilkins debuted at #60 in the first release of the 247Sports 2026 rankings, a spot he would go on to outperform over the next year and a half, ultimately rising much higher as time progressed.
After transferring to Brewster, Wilkins stepped right in and asserted himself as a top option on a team loaded with talent. This past season he was undeniably the primary scoring threat for the Bobcats who were missing another top recruit Dwayne Aristode with a season-ending injury.
For his play throughout the year, Wilkins was named First Team All-Conference, in what is regarded by many as the top high school league in the U.S.
While he helped lead the team to a share of the regular season title in the Nike EYBL Scholastic League, his heroics in the postseason at the Chipotle Nationals helped elevate his status even more.
In a matchup with his future Blue Devil teammates, the Boozer twins and their Columbus High School squad, Wilkins was huge. He took on the assignment of guarding Cam Boozer, a top three recruit in the class, and held his own throughout the game. With about 10 seconds to play in the fourth quarter, a missed shot by Darien Moore deflected to Wilkins who hit the dagger three to tie the game.
While Brewster would ultimately lose the game, and Columbus would go onto win the tournament, the development of Wilkins three-point arsenal was a major takeaway among those watching.
He’s added to his game on a consistent basis going from a more interior oriented forward, to a perimeter threat with real versatility on both sides of the ball. He’s always been able to put the ball on the floor, but now he is quick with his handle and footwork to create shots from outside, and has elevated the clip at which he converts those.
Brewster Head Coach Jason Smith had great things to say about the character and work ethic that Wilkins brings to a team: “It's been a pleasure to coach Sebastian and have him in our community at Brewster! He possesses outstanding leadership ability and a tremendous work ethic,” Smith said.
He continued with, “He's cemented himself as one of the premier talents in the country, as well as in the history of our program. We are very proud of the success he's earned and look forward to following his journey at the collegiate level and beyond,” further speaking on the bright future ahead for the native of Canton.
Mass Rivals program director, Vin Pastore, who has coached Sebastian throughout the years spoke on his rise to stardom: “Sebastian's development has been meteoric over these last couple of years,” Pastore said.
“He went from virtually a player people didn't really know, to a division one player, to a player who will now be playing at the highest level of college basketball and finish as a top 50 recruit.” Pastore continued with.
Pastore then broke down the Duke commits game for those who aren't familiar with his game, “His size and physicality allows him to take you to the block and score around the rim. He's got the shotmaking versatility to step away from the basket and knock down three's, scores it off the bounce, and because of the athleticism and versatility, he can cover multiple positions on defense. He's a special prospect.”
Moving onto Duke, Wilkins becomes another top versatile forward prospect to matriculate to the blue blood program.
The Jon Scheyer led program has seen commitments from three top 25 prospects already in Cameron & Cayden Boozer, as well as Nik Khamenia. Just yesterday, Italian-based prospect Dame Sarr announced his commitment to the Blue Devils as well, and was dubbed to have “a grade of 98, correlating with a top-15 prospect in the class,” by Adam Finkelstein.
With his rapid growth over the years, and the ability to continue to hone his game at one of the most prestigious college basketball programs in the nation, the potential for Wilkins' future is very exciting, and one the community in New England will certainly be watching.
