Scholar Roundball Classic Preview

The first ever Scholar Roundball Classic is set to tip off this weekend at Babson College.  The event features some of the top academic schools in the northeast and Canada including Phillips Exeter, Phillips Andover, Choate Rosemary Hall, Northfield Mount Hermon, St. Mark’s, Hill School, Kent School, and many others.  Action begins on Friday night with four marquee games headlines by a clash between St. Mark’s and Brimmer & May set for a 5pm tip in a game that will feature over 15 college basketball prospects and two of the top 25 ranked juniors in the country. 

Seven games are on tap for Saturday beginning with Brimmer & May against IMG Prep, followed by Milton Academy taking on IMG High School.  The IMG squads feature two of the top ten players left available in the country in six-foot-seven swingman DeAndre Daniels, who is hearing from the likes of Florida, Kansas, UCLA, and Texas, as well as six-foot-two shooting guard Phillip Greene who is hearing from West Virginia, St. John’s, Miami, Depaul, and Missouri. 

Milton Academy won’t be the only prestigious academic school to take the court on Saturday as Phillips Academy of Andover takes on Rivers at 3pm followed by Northfield Mount Hermon against Canadian powerhouse Champlain St. Lambert at 4:30, and Phillips Exeter Academy vs. Tabor Academy at 6:00. 

Five more games are on tap for Sunday beginning with Tabor returning to the court to take on another Canadian powerhouse in Vanier Prep at 10am.  Choate Rosemary Hall will face Champlain St. Lambert at 11:15 followed by the Hill School against Northfield Mount Hermon at 12:45, Kent School vs. Cheshire Academy at 2:15, and then Albany Academy against Beaver Country Day at 3:30.
