Samson Reilly Commits to Quinnipiac

Last week, East Catholic/BABC 3SSB 2024 6’2” point guard Samson Reilly committed to Quinnipiac University. He also received offers from Central CT State, Le Moyne, Sacred Heart, and Buffalo before making his decision.

Reilly has spent his high school career at East Catholic playing for his father, Coach Luke Reilly Sr., and part of it with his older brother, Luke Jr. The Eagles have brought home the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC) Division I Championship trophy the past three consecutive seasons.

This past season, East Catholic also won the Central Connecticut Conference Championship (CCC) for the first time since 2020, defeating Bloomfield 78-64 behind Reilly’s 32 points. He was selected to the All-CIAC Division I First Team for his performance throughout the season.

“Samson is a dynamic high IQ guard that can score with high efficiency along with playing the point,” said East Catholic Head Coach & Samson’s father Luke Reilly Sr. to NERR. “He has shot over 40% from 3 every year at East Catholic.”

Coach Reilly also commented on Quinnipiac as Samson’s next home, saying, “Quinnipiac is a great fit and coming off a 20 win season. They have great facilities, and Coach Pecora has the experience and expertise to lead them to the next level of success.”

Samson Reilly also gave NERR his thoughts, saying, “Quinnipiac is an awesome place that has  great academics and a high level of support for their basketball program. The facilities and the way they treat their athletes is very impressive.” He also commented on the program itself. “There is no substitute for the coaching experience that Coach Pecora brings to the table. It will be exciting to stay in CT and help bring the program to the next level. Coach Pecora has put together an outstanding staff and I look forward to becoming a part of the great program they are creating.”

Reilly has one more season with his father before making the transition to the highest level of college hoops. It comes with pride that he will be representing his home state.
