Ronnie Dixon Commits to Dartmouth

A year ago not too many division I coaches new the name Ronnie Dixon. But since arriving at Phillips Exeter Academy in September the 5’11 point guard has generated quite a name for himself. Dixon has been battling a serious ankle injury for a good part of the season and was even sidelined for 3 weeks in January. He is back on the court now but still not completely 100%.

When healthy, Dixon is the consummate floor general who is very efficient in a fast paced game because of his ability to push the ball hard up and down the floor while still making good decisions with the ball in his hands. He is also a very athletic player who gets the opportunity to showcase his leaping ability more in the open floor.

At Dartmouth, Dixon will join a team that has faced some hardships this year with a current record of 8 and 15, including a mark of 3 and 7 in the Ivy League. Nevertheless, the future appears to be bright for the Big Green as they currently have no seniors on their roster and are expecting all of their impact players to return next year.

“I’m really excited” said Dixon. “I just had an overall good feel for the school. I liked the direction the basketball program was headed and I loved the coaches.”

Exeter Coach Jay Tilton echoed those sentiments.

“This was a dream situation for Ronnie coming into Exeter,” said Tilton. “His goal was always to attend a top academic school as well as to compete with a division I program.”

Exeter concludes their regular season with a home game on Saturday against Phillips Academy of Andover.
