Rising Senior Spotlight - Matt Price

Matt Price's goal is to play division I basketball.

But let's face it...a lot of kids say that.

Price though, who just finished his first year at Kimball Union Academy in New Hampshire, has a chance to prove it though.

He exceeded all expectations in his first year in the prep ranks and in so doing has started to make a name for himself.

Personal Statement

Playing at the prep school level isn't for everybody and I have proven I can compete with big-time athletes and win games. Whenever I step on the floor, I play each game like it is the last I will ever play. My toughness and competitiveness as well as my winning attitude put me at an advantage over my opponents. I strive on and off the court to become the best teammate possible and I am able to connect with all different types of people which ultimately brings every team I am on closer. My strongest attribute is my shooting ability, I have great range and can heat up quickly from deep. I also am very good at penetrating and dishing for a shot from one of my teammates, as well as finishing around the basket. My mid-range game has also developed nicely and I am able to hit pull up jumpers from anywhere inside the three. Besides my high energy and toughness/competitiveness, what sets me apart is my defense ability. I am always up for the challenge to guard quick guards like myself and prove that my defense is very tough. I am very confident that I can make an impact on a scholarship level college program and will work tirelessly until I get the opportunity.

Recommendations

"Matt Price exceeded my expectations for him in year one at Kimball Union Academy!  He quickly established himself as a leader on a team that would ultimately win 20 games while he made a seamless transition to the point guard position.  I know it gets overused but Matt is a true gym rat and is wired to compete!  His teammates absolutely love him and his leadership intangibles are as strong as any young man I've ever had the opportunity to work with. I can't recommend Matt Price more strongly and am confident that his college career will exceed what shapes up to be a strong senior year on the 'The Hilltop!'"
- Cory McClure, Head Coach, Kimball Union Academy

"In my opinion Matt will make an immediate impact at the college level because he possesses everything you want in a guard. He is extremely skilled, has college ready strength/athleticism and he is a natural leader who will raise team culture. He is a proven winner everywhere he plays, which is not shockingly given the qualities I mentioned that define who Matt is as a player. "
- Michael Crotty Jr., Director, Middlesex Magic

Scout's Take

"I thought Matt was a very pleasant surprise last year for KUA. I admittedly didn't know much about him going into the season, but he immediately jumped out the first time I saw them play and he's been someone I've considered a legit scholarship prospect since. He's skilled across the board in that he can get places with his handle but is also a threat to make pull-ups and threes."
