Perfect National Championship
This may not have been Brewster Academy's most individually talented talented team, but they will go down as their most historic.
Jason Smith's club capped a perfect, 33-0, season by winning their fifth national championship in the last eight years on Thursday night.
They also earned the distinction of being the first NEPSAC AAA (or A prior to conference realignment) team to finish undefeated since Maine Central Institute in 1998.
Aaron Wheeler played his best game in recent memory, finishing with 22 points and earning MVP honors while Thomas Allen was incredibly efficient shooting 8-10 from the floor to finish with 19 points. Makai Ashton-Langford added 15 points including a clutch three in the final moments to extend his personal winning streak which began in May of 2016.
NMH battled valiantly and fought until the very last second of the 72-71 decision. Kellan Grady scored 31 points, finishing his high school career in spectacular fashion, while Jerome Desrosiers and Zach Light provided tremendous toughness on both ends.
