Pasha’s Return to the Mid-Atlantic

Just the other day, St. Thomas More guard Izaiah Pasha announced his commitment to the University of Delaware for their incoming recruiting class.

Pasha previously competed at Cardinal O’Hara in Philadelphia, where he was a strong Division I prospect, but on a team laden with guards, he played more of an off-ball role.

Many scouts described him as being more of a wing than a guard due to his usage at O’Hara. However, when he made the move to St. Thomas More, that changed quickly, as Iona-commit and STM point guard Justin Menard missed extended time.

The Chancellors' Associate Head Coach and Head of Player Development, Milo Luciano, had this to say about Pasha’s growth as a guard this past season: “Izaiah provided a lot of good minutes and had many good moments as a secondary ball handler for us throughout the season. When we dealt with injuries in our backcourt, Izaiah stepped into a role as a primary creator and demonstrated notable growth in his processing as the year progressed,” noting Pasha’s willingness and ability to step in as a facilitator.

He continued, “[Pasha] started mixing up his pace instead of relying solely on burst to get downhill, he made rim reads instead of trying to pressure shot blockers on his own, and he allowed backside actions to develop before taking off.”

To cap things off on his next steps with the Blue Hens, Luciano had this to say, “He is hopefully walking into a great situation at Delaware for his development—where he’ll be given a bit of autonomy on the ball in the early stages of his career. We are looking forward to watching him make the most of his opportunity and continue to grow.”

Pasha’s new coach at Delaware, Martin Inglesby, was a successful point guard with Notre Dame in the late '90s and early 2000s before entering the coaching ranks.

Similar to Pasha, he was a standout high school player in the Philadelphia area.

With a prep year under his belt that saw him take on the role of point guard for a successful St. Thomas More team this season, Pasha’s future with the Blue Hens looks to be very promising.
