Ore Odutayo to Iona

In the afternoon of May 21, 2025, wing Ore Odutayo announced his commitment to the Iona University Gaels.
The 6-foot-8 forward from the Williston Northampton school is a versatile player, known for wreaking havoc on the defensive end with his ability to guard multiple positions.
Offensively, he uses his athleticism to finish powerfully at the rim, whether in the post or on rolls to the basket. He can also space the floor with the ability to knock down shots from the perimeter.
The New England Recruiting Report caught up with the newest member of the Gaels to get insight into his recent decision. When asked what ultimately led him to choose Iona, Odutayo pointed to the program’s culture and vision for his development.
“The environment is the main reason why I chose to commit there,” he explained. “I felt that the coaching staff had a real detailed plan for me and that I could see myself getting the most better in their program. They have a lot to offer on and off the court too, so I thought it out and decided that they could bring me the most success.”
Odutayo is coming off an NEPSAC championship season with Williston Northampton, where he dominated on the defensive end. Piling up steals and blocks en route to the title.
Like many who were, or are still in search of a spot for next year, the star wing had returned to join his AAU team the Northeast Revolt for extra exposure this offseason prior to his commitment.
When asked about his future goals, Odutayo expressed strong motivation for both his basketball career and life: “I want to get to the highest level of basketball, that’s my goal. I wanna be able to put myself and my family in a position to win, in all aspects of life. And I know that playing basketball could bring that.”
He also expressed gratitude for his entire family, his coaches, and to god for putting him in the position to understand his fit into different collegiate programs.
The Swiss Army knife wing’s defensive ability will undoubtedly help the Gaels heading into next season and put him on the radar to continue elevating his game. Iona is coming off a 2024-25 campaign with a 17-17 record, and turnover at the helm of the program.
