NPSI All-Tournament Team Announced

St. Andrew’s Michael Carter-Williams was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2010 National Prep School Invitational tournament directors announced on Monday.

Carter-Williams had back to back 37 point games and led St. Andrew’s to a big win over class A MCI on Sunday. 

Joining the junior guard on the All-Tournament team were Patrick Auda from the Canarias Basketball Academy in Spain, Bo Barnes from Westwind Prep in Arizona, Billy Baron from Worcester Academy, C.J. Fair from Brewster Academy, Jamir Hanner from NIA Prep in New Jersey, Nate Lubick from St. Mark’s, Majok Majok from Northfield Mount Hermon, J.J. Moore from South Kent, Shabazz Napier from Lawrence Academy, and Javarez Willis from Christian Life Center in Texas.

Final Thoughts

•  Shabazz Napier will be the new top ranked guard in 2011 when we update our New England rankings next week as he continues to dominate at every step along the way. 

•  It used to be a three legged race to be the top guard in 2011 but now there’s a fourth as Carter-Williams has grown from a prospect with great potential to a prospect who is already a great player.   

•  Alex Murphy made us look foolish for dropping him to #2 in Massachusetts 2012 when he took over the game vs. Winchendon, scoring 20 second half points to lead St. Mark’s to the upset. 

•  When Nate Lubick scores 27 points and drills a game winning shot he rightfully receives plenty of credit, but rarely anyone notices how valuable he is on the opposite end as a team defender. 

•  How about the little guys beating the big boys?  Lawrence over NMH.  St. Mark’s over Winchendon.  St. Andrew’s over MCI.  Marianapolis over Ocean Academy.  

•  No player in the class of 2010 has improved more in the last two months than Majok Majok and with a variety of high-majors out there looking for bigs the NMH post will have plenty of options.
