NMH’s Franks is Ivy Bound
Northfield Mount Hermon School forward Davis Franks made a verbal commitment to Brown University and head coach Mike Martin on Saturday.
Franks is a 6-foot-8 forward who previously attended Brooklyn Collegiate before arriving at Northfield Mount Hermon last year. He ran with the Albany City Rocks during the recent EYBL season.
“I’m excited for my future at Brown University,” Davis said. “I see it as a place that will allow me to reach my fullest potential as a basketball player.”
Franks is a skilled forward who is an exceptional ball-handler and passer for his size. While he’s gained valuable experience over the course of the last year playing at the highest levels of both prep school and grassroots basketball, he projects as someone whose best basketball could still very in front of them as his skill and versatility gives Martin a very unique weapon at the next level.
“Davis is, in many ways, a point forward,” NMH head coach John Carroll said. “He’s an elite passer, has a high I.Q., and the potential to make a tremendous impact on Brown University and the Ivy League. This should be a terrific partnership between him and Mike Martin.”
Franks becomes the 6th member of NMH’s 2018 class to commit to a division I school. He is also the 12th member of last year’s 2016-2017 team to do so and the second in as many years to commit to Brown as he'll reunite with former teammate Matt DeWolf next year with the Bears.
Incredibly, he becomes the 29th NMH product to commit to an Ivy League School in the last ten years, more than three times as many as any other high school or prep school in the country.
