NMH’s Ervin Ivy Bound
Northfield Mount Hermon School point guard Darius Ervin made a commitment to Cornell on Tuesday.
Ervin capped a four-year career in storybook style this season as he averaged 18.1 points, 4.7 assists, and 3.8 rebounds while shooting 51% from the three-point line, 50% from two-point territory, and 90% from the free-throw line. He hit a total of 124 threes on the season and scored 614 total points, which is third all-time in the NMH record books.
He also won a total of 121 games and two New England titles during the course of his career.
Nevertheless, Ervin was under-recruited for the vast majority of the year as most D1 programs were concerned about his lack of size.
Generously listed at 5-foot-8, he will be one of the smallest players in all of division I basketball next season.
Ervin becomes the fifth member of NMH's 2020 class to finalize his recruitment and the fourth to commit to an Ivy League school. He will be one of 12 NMH alums in the Ivy League next year.
