• Trinity College has announced their recruiting class and it continues to have a strong New England theme. 6’11 center Daniel Donoghue (pictured above) from the Winchendon School headlines the class. Donoghue is a big man with good hands and feet and a good understanding of the low post game, who should be able to make an immediate contribution in the NESCAC. Other local players joining the Bantams include 6’7 forward Tim Dunn from Holyoke High School in Massachusetts as well as 6’3 swingman Jared Pimm from Concord Academy. Pimm is the all time leading scorer at Concord Academy and was named the Most Valuable Player of the Eastern Invitational League this season. 6’5 forward Luke MacDougal from Syracuse, NY and 6’0 guard Ian Fels from Miami, FL round out the class.
• Connecticut College, another top program in the NESCAC, has also added three local players in 6’5 Scott Seidor from Kingswood-Oxford, 6’7 Mike Lehane from Marianapolis Prep and 6’3 Dean Lampe from the Brooks School. Seidor has great size for the perimeter at 6’5 and a quick first step that makes him very difficult to defend. Lehane was one of the main staples on his Marianapolis Prep team that won the NEPSAC Class “D” Championship last year and advanced all the way to the finals of the NEPSAC Class “B” tournament this year.
• Two of Lehane’s Marianapolis teammates have also finalized their college plans as Chris Galbraith will head to Wheaton and Keenan Burke-Pitts to Wentworth. Galbraith joins Northfield Mount Hermon’s Bud Gaffney and Bishop Fenwick’s Ryan Sasso in Wheaton’s recruiting class.
• Brian Tracey, a 6’5 forward, who led Kimball Union to one of their best seasons in recent memory will head to Bentley of the NE-10 next year. Tracey is a versatile forward with a strong body who can shoot the three, bang in the paint, and finish above the rim.
• Tracey’s KUA teammate 6’3 swingman Beau Bonness will continue his career at Brandeis where his physical strength and ability to knock down shots from long range should allow him to challenge for playing time immediately.
• Three other players from New Hampshire have also made their college selections as Tilton’s Adam Cowie will head to Washington & Jefferson, Hollis Brookline’s Ben Etten will head to WPI, and Bishop Guertin’s Ryan Wholey heads to Middlebury.
• The New Hampshire Wildcats recently won the 2007 New Hampshire AAU State Championship. This is the third consecutive season that the Wildcats have advanced to the championship game and the second time in the last three years that they have held the championship. This year the team plowed through the field going an undefeated 5-0 with an average margin of victory of 30 points. The Wildcats roster includes Mike Aron from Holderness, Luke Apfeld from Brewster Academy, Dave Aquilino from Londonberry High School, Brian Chergey from Bow High School, Max Gordon from Phillips Exeter Academy, Vytas Kriskus from Holderness, Jon Pike from Exeter High School, Simon McCormack from Northfield Mount Hermon, Michael Topercer from New Hampton, and Patrick Saunders from New Hampton.
