New Haven Lands Local Talent
Darius Watson has taken his game to new levels in the last year. With the size and strength to be productive inside the paint and the ball skills to thrive on the perimeter, the six-foot-five forward has developed a complete offensive game.
The University of New Haven was one of the first schools to notice Watson’s development and has been recruiting the talented forward hard since this summer.
Last week the Chargers’ hard work paid off as Watson made a verbal commitment to the New Haven coaching staff and quickly followed up by signing his National Letter of Intent.
Watson teamed with Steven Glowiak to form one of the CIAC’s most potent 1-2 punches last year, leading New Britain to a 20-4 record. This season the duo returns for their senior season and should have the Hurricanes among the state’s top teams.
At New Haven, Watson will have the versatility to play either of the forward positions and will likely help to soften the blow of Cassius Chaney’s graduation as the Chargers continue their transition into the ultra competitive Northeast 10 Conference.
