NBA Camp Gets Underway
This year's NBA Player's Association Camp got underway on Wednesday. The camp is arguably the most competitive in the country, holding no sneaker affiliation and consequently being able to draw players from across grassroots lines.
New England is well represented at the camp as Michael Carter-Williams, Naadir Tharpe, Khem Birch, Derrick Wilson, Alex Murphy, and Kaleb Tarczewski are joining the likes of DaJuan Coleman, Perry Elliss, DeAngelo Harrison, Myck Kabongo, Le'Bryan Nash, J.P. Tokoto, and others.
Andre Drummond also earned an invitation but was unable to attend due to the USA Basketball training camp.
Campers arrived at the University of Virginia on Wednesday for practice. Game play began on Thursday with Tharpe and Carter-Williams both earning recognition from Scout.com's Evan Daniels and Tarczewski's one on one battle with Isaiah Austin drawing recognition from Dave Telep.
The goal of the NBPA Top 100 Camp is to prepare up-and-coming players for life on and off the basketball court. The camp includes a skills development program to compliment a game schedule. Off the court training includes a mentoring, personal development, and education components.
