More Commitments Trickling In

•  Salem State has landed two more players to their already impressive recruiting class.  South Kent’s Dominique Farmer (CT) and Charlestown’s Jamel Williams (MA) are both headed to the division III powerhouse next year.  Farmer is a tremendous athlete and lock down defender while Williamson is another player who will be a great fit in Vikings’ pressing and attacking style.

•  Reuben Cabrea, who has starred in recent years at Marianapolis Prep, is headed to Colin Community College in North Dallas, Texas.  Colin is one of the top JUCO programs in Texas, plays a highly competitive schedule, and has a successful track record of earning scholarships for their players.  Cabrea is already division I eligible and so will only need to spend one season at Colin.

•  Former Worcester Academy swingman Allen Aragbaye will transfer from Northeastern University to American International College.  Aragbaye is a long and athletic swingman who has the potential to become an immediate impact player upon joining AIC’s line-up.  Aragbaye will have two seasons of eligibility competing with the Yellow Jackets in the NE-10.

•  Former Dartmouth High School and Winchendon School big man John Hegarty will transfer from the University of Portland to Franklin Pierce College.  Hegarty is a seven-footer who once weighed as much as 370 pounds.  He’s reportedly in some of the best shape of his life right now, weighing about 280 pounds, and if that’s true he could be a dominant force in the NE-10 right off the bat.  Hegarty has three seasons of eligibility remaining.

•  Jordan Payton, who spent a 6th season at Heat Academy in Virginia this season after playing his post-graduate year at Hebron Academy, has committed to Norfolk State.  The California native averaged 21 points per game at Hebron last year but missed time with a wrist injury.  Upon arriving at Heat Academy he acquired interest from St. Francis PA, Arkansas Pine Bluff, UNC Greensboro, St. Peter’s, Central Arkansas and Chaminade.  Ultimately though he committed to Norfolk State who put a high value on his size on the wing (6’5”) and deep shooting range.  Payton and Nikko Acosta befriended each other playing with the Team Maine AAU squad in the spring of 2008 and attended Heat together this year.
