MIAA Midseason Report Part Two
In this part two article, we will profile various MIAA programs as the midway point is upon us.
Franklin: 2023 prospect Geino Scaringello is the floor for this squad. The guard knows how to get into the paint and create shots for others. He also is a capable shooter from long-range. Another relied upon guard is Justin Allen. The 2023 prospect is a sharpshooter who can make plays for teammates when attacking closeouts. Also a soccer player, 2024 prospect Andrew O’Neill has been key with his gravity as a floor spacer. 2024 prospect Shawn O’Leary is a steady presence. The forward can shoot from deep but also helps out on the defensive glass. Saint Anselm lacrosse commit Ben Harvey is a captain with Allen. His strength and toughness in the paint have been an integral part of this team’s success.
Needham: Guard Brian Cloonan has been a consistent floor spacer. The 2024 prospect also knows how to move without the ball and is an unselfish passer. He earned MVP honors at the Westwood Tournament earlier this year. 2023 prospect Henry Bickford is back. The forward has a post game, vision finding open teammates, while also rebounding well. 2024 prospect Chris Camozzi has been a regular contributor. He can score in multiple ways and helps out on the glass as well.. 2024 guard Jackson Shaw is another prospect who defenses have to prepare for. He plays within the flow and understands when to be more aggressive on both ends. Also a soccer standout, 2024 prospect Campbell Keyes has earned important minutes for this squad.
Central Catholic: Forward Joey Hart has been impressive this season. We have taken note of his inside/out scoring tools and comfort bodying up in the paint with bigger opponents. Hart dropped a career high 30 points earlier this week during a win. 2023 guard Markys Bridgewater recently picked up a pair of D2 football offers. He contributes on the hardwood with his playmaking and hard nosed defense. 2024 big man John Kelley is a matchup problem with his 6’8 size and shooting touch. Only a 2026 prospect, Javi Lopez is already on our radar. His versatility as a scorer has allowed him to make an immediate impact. Another key underclassman is Nick Sangermano. The 2025 prospect’s ability to make movement treys at his size along with drawing charges defensively have earned him minutes. Another football standout on this squad is 2023 wing Marcus Rivera. His well-built frame and competitiveness allow him to make a two-way impact. 2024 wing David Haley is another one to watch.
Lynn English: 2023 prospect Tyrese Melo Garcia leads this team. He is a good sized guard who can score at multiple levels but also create shots for others. Melo Garcia scored his 1000th point earlier this week. 2025 prospect Warren Keel has been a welcomed addition. The creative playmaker allows Melo Garcia to play off the ball more where he can focus on scoring. 2023 guard Jeury Barbosa plays an integral role. He is a dependable decision-maker who can space the floor from long range. Another 2025 prospect who has earned regular minutes is Denzel Guillen. His toughness, unselfishness, and capability to score in double figures on any given night have been important. 2023 big man Joshua Saint Jean’s 6’7 size and finishing/rebounding ability provide this squad with a reliable inside presence. 2023 forward Nelson Obarisiagbon forms a frontcourt duo with Saint Jean that has been productive all year long.
Prospect of Note: 2024 wing Ryder Frost has had a terrific season so far for Beverly. He has made three-pointers in volume, showed floor vision hitting open teammates, and even helps out on the defensive glass. Frost will be competing on the Under Armour circuit this AAU season for Middlesex Magic. He also could go over the 1000 point mark tonight.
