Masters Star Earns Scholarship
Mantas Drungys has played the game of basketball in places all around the world.
A native of Lithuania, Drungys previously played with the Lithuanian Junior National Team, which is no small feat given the country’s high standing in the international basketball community.
Last season he attended the Abbey School in London, England where he thrived averaging almost 22 points and 10 rebounds per game as a junior.
He made the trip across the ocean for his senior year and starred at the Master’s School in Connecticut for head coach Ralph Auriantal. Drungys’ only season in New England turned out to be a very successful one as he averaged 16 points and 8 rebounds per game while also picking up team MVP honors and helping Master’s finish with a 12-12 record.
Now, Drungys has another trip in front of him as he has recently committed to playing his college basketball in the state of Louisiana after signing a National Letter of Intent last week with Centenary College from the Summit League.
Drungys will be joining a Gents program that is in the midst of a rebuilding project under first year head coach Greg Gary. In his first season at the helm of the program Gary led Centenary to a record of 8-23.
Drungys will offer the Gents a wing player who combines good physical strength with athleticism. Offensively, he is relentless attacking the basket and finishes plays both above the rim and against contact. Defensively, he has the physical tools to be successful and also plays bigger than he is around the paint.
