Magic Win ZGXL

The Middlesex Magic capped their first season on the ZGXL by taking the championship in Orlando last week.

The Magic went 7-0 on the week, both taking the championship as well as an earlier match-up against the Albany City Rocks with a full baseline of D1 college coaches looking on.

Following that win they advanced through pool play until meeting Team Swish in the finals, where they opened a 36-27 half-time lead before pulling away for the title.

Recent Wofford pledge Josh Morissette played a starring role in that one, finishing with 25 points including 6 three-pointers, five of which came in the first-half.

Josh Baldwin had a big game in the final as well, finishing with a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds after having a solid performance earlier in the week against the City Rocks. Mike Loughnane added 15 points in the final.

Brady Cummins and Trent Mosquera both led the team in scoring in games earlier in the week. Cummins had a 20-point outburst that earned him an offer from UMass while Mosquera went for 16.

Dom Campbell was solid throughout the week while continuing to draw a long line of coaches. He scored 13 points in the first four minutes of the semi-final game and also had a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds against the City Rocks.

Cash McClure is new to the program and filling in the spot created by Will Batchelder’s injury and was able to provide a boost of offense in multiple spots as well.
