Lee’s Smith D2 Bound
Lee Academy post-graduate guard Brandon Smith made a recent commitment to St. Thomas Aquinas College in New York, accepting a full athletic scholarship from the division II school.
Smith is a native of upstate New York who previously starred at the Park School in Buffalo, where he won a state championship as a senior.
He ran with Corey Graham Elite during the summer AAU circuit, winning the platinum division championship at the Las Vegas Fab 48 in July.
This season, he averaged 14 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2 steals while shooting 34% from the three-point line for the Pandas.
"Brandon is a true all around player. He can score in multiple ways, handle the ball, and rebound. He's a tough defender and a winner," said Lee Academy head coach Dan Haynes. "Brandon is very coach-able with a skill set that makes him a tough match-up at any level. His work ethic and leadership skills will make him a terrific college basketball player."
STAC has won 25 or more games while advancing to the NCAA tournament in each of the last four seasons under head coach Tobin Anderson.
