Lee Academy to have New England Feel

Andrew Papaefthemiou has taken the reigns of the Lee Academy post-graduate basketball program and will debut as the new head coach next season. 

Papaefthemiou, who was previously on staff at Providence College, has added a good amount of local New England talent to next year’s roster. 

The most notable addition might be that of Rodell Wigginton, the six-foot-four swingman who made his New England debut last season at Boston Trinity.  Wigginton is a high level athlete with a powerful frame and a ton of long term potential. 

Coming in as a post-graduate will be point guard Rodney Beldo, after starring at Scituate High School in Massachusetts.  Beldo has terrific handle, court vision, and passing ability and will no doubt be able to contribute next season in the backcourt. 

Beldo will be one of four post-grads with New England roots as he will be joined by Ben Teer from Washing Academy in Maine, Darius Sealy from Cambridge Rindge and Latin in Massachusetts, Koang Thok from Portland High School in Maine, and Cesar Castro from Chelsea High School in Massachusetts. All four are expected to contend for time in the Lee backcourt. 

Other newcomers to this year’s Lee team will include: Anthony Joseph Perez Cortesia, a 6’9” forward from Venezuala who is a potential high-major talent; 6’5” guard D.J. Peterson who already owns an offer from Baylor; Thanos Thodos, a skilled seven-foot center from Greece; Tyler Scott, a six-foot-three combo-guard from Halifax West who is already garnering division I attention; 6’7” combo-forward Raymond Chase from San Antonio; Will Durr, a post-grad guard from Albany who is known for his ability to shoot the basketball; and Fred “Skip” Goss, the son of Fred Goss who was the starting point guard for the 1964 national championship team at UCLA. 

Keith Coleman and Youssou Ndoye will return from last year’s team.  Coleman is a physical specimen in the middle who has been the subject of high major interest while Ndoye is six-foot-nine post player who spent last season on the varsity team but already holds mid-major division I offers.
