Kilcullen Makes Decision

Phillips Exeter post-graduate Ryan Kilcullen committed to Boston College on Monday, accepting a spot on the team as a recruited walk-on.

The Massachusetts native graduated from St. Sebastian’s High School last year where he was named to the ISL’s All League Team before opting to head to Exeter for a post-graduate season.

“After meeting with the staff at BC, Ryan is excited about the direction Coach Donahue has the program heading,” said Exeter head coach Jay Tilton.  “Ryan is a great fit for the foundation and culture BC is building.  He has a terrific feel for the game, a high motor, and incredible leadership qualities.”

Kilcullen’s post-graduate season had gotten off to a slow start after only recently recovering from mononucleosis.  But even when not able to match his normal productivity on the court, Kilcullen stood out as recently as last week’s Scholar Roundball Classic when he showed himself to be the obvious emotional leader of Exeter’s team.

“Ryan has developed a great deal in the past year and is just beginning to realize his potential,” Tilton said.  “He has a very bright future.”

When completely healthy, Kilcullen is a skilled high post player with a high basketball I.Q. and college ready body.  This summer he proved himself capable of thriving against a high level of competition when he starred with the Bay State Magic, who feature another Boston College bound big man in Dennis Clifford

And while Kilcullen’s talents had earned him a long list of recruitment, the opportunity to suit up for Boston College was something that he couldn’t pass up.

“Ryan had great options with other schools,” Tilton said, “but he is excited to fulfill his lifetime dream of playing for the Eagles.”

Hotchkiss Post-Grad Heading NESCAC

Hotchkiss School’s six-foot-five post-graduate forward Dylan Sinnickson is heading to Middlebury next year according to head coach Fred Benjamin.  Sinnickson previously played at Chaminade High School in Long Island where he starred in both basketball and baseball.

On the hardwood, Sinnickson is an active and athletic forward with a developing inside-out skill set.  He is expected to be a steady contributor for a strong Hotchkiss team this year and should challenge for immediate minutes upon arriving at Middlebury.

M.I.T. Earns Second Commitment

Nick Prus, a six-foot-four shooting guard from Buffalo Grove High School in Illinois, made a verbal commitment to M.I.T. after being accepted early action.  A four year varsity letter winner and three year starter, Prus is best known for his ability to shoot the ball from long range.

As a junior, Prus led his region of Illinois in three-pointers made and was top ten in scoring and free-throw percentage, earning him All-Conference and All-Area recognition as well as being named to the All-Tournament team at the Bison Classic.  M.I.T. head coach Larry Anderson first saw Prus play at last summer's Hoop Mountain Academic All-American Camp.
