Junior Elite Camp - Knicks

Playing without a true post presence the Knicks played a run and gun style that would have made New York Knicks head coach Mike D'Antoni proud at last week's Hoop Mountain Junior Elite Camp.  Here is a look at who shined:

Kyle Newman, 6’1”, SF - Kyle is an intriguing prospect at the small forward position. With his good size, he is capable of taking his matchup in the post in most scenarios, but is also a capable shooter with three point range. He is an above average rebounder at both ends of the floor.

Nick Cidado, 6’1”, SG - Nick is an athletic shooting guard who can attack the rim and finish over bigs with relative ease at this level. As he moves on to the high school level, it will be interesting to see if he develops the tools needed to score at a high rate for four years.

Cody Maynard, 6’0”, SF - Maynard is an athletic combo forward who has a great post game. He positions himself well and makes nice moves with his back to the basket. He finishes around the rim smoothly with both hands.

Germaine Wright, 5’2”, PG - Wright is a small point guard who handles the ball extremely well with both hands. This quick New York City product was great in transition and raced the ball from end to end with ease all camp. Defensively, he pressured the ball all the way up the court and wreaked havoc on his matchup.

Andrew Cowan, 5’10”, SG - Cowan is an off guard who does a great job attacking the rim and finishing with power through contact and fouls. He picked up multiple “and ones” all camp, especially going to his right. He also has the ability to catch and shoot from three.

Jack Dedonato, 5’3”, PG - Jack is a quick point guard who likes to get into the lane and create for teammates. He is an unselfish player who is truly a pass first point guard.

Kyle Ryder, 6’0”, SF - Ryder is a versatile 3 man who does a lot of things well. He has a good mid range game, a back to the basket post game, and good ball handling ability. Defensively, he works hard and understands man to man principles.

Shane Cooney, 5’4”, PG - Cooney is a point guard who shoots the ball very well from deep. He handles the ball well and is very capable of beating his man off the bounce.

Albert Lawrence, 5’10”, SF - Albert is a versatile small forward who brings a lot to his team with the ball in his hands. He attacks the rim well and keeps his head up in transition.
