Jorgenson Back off the Board

New Hampton senior point guard Travis Jorgenson made a verbal commitment to Georgia Tech on Monday night.  Jorgenson was one of the top available point guards left in the national class of 2013.

The Missouri native is in his first season at the New Hampton School, and was committed to his home state Mizzou Tigers when he arrived in September, but opted to re-open his recruitment little more than a month later.

It was just last weekend that Jorgenson listed Georgia Tech, Boston College, and Creighton as his top three schools, but he gave Yellow Jackets’ head coach Brian Gregory the news he was looking for on Monday night.

Jorgenson becomes the third player to commit to Gregory in the 2013 class, joining another point guard in Solomon Poole from North Florida Educational Institute and forward Quinton Stephens from Marist School in Atlanta.

Jorgenson has been one of the top point guards in the NEPSAC this season, leading New Hampton in both scoring and assists, while helping them to a 14-8 record on the season.

The six-foot point guard is a true senior who came to New Hampton after three seasons at Rock Bridge High School, who he helped lead to the Missouri Elite 8 last season.

Here's a look back at Jorgenson's interview from last week including a couple of his highlight plays:
