Jordan Laguerre Recruiting Update

Is it possible that Jordan Laguerre could still be flying under the radar?

As well as the 6’0” guard played in July we expected to be hearing his name a lot more this month

Nevertheless, for all of the information that has been pouring in over the last few weeks about scholarship offers and recruiting visits, Laguerre’s name hasn’t been mentioned as often as we would have thought.

Don’t expect it to stay that way.

The New England Recruiting Report got the chance to catch up with Laguerre last week as he gave us an update on his recruitment and shared his thoughts about his play in the month of July.

“I did ok,” he said of the month of July as a whole.  “Our whole team played really well though.”

“O.K.” is a huge understatement in our eyes.  In Las Vegas in particular, Laguerre put up some big time numbers as he went for multiple 20 point games including back to back 28 point outings in the Mass Rivals’ final two games of the Adidas Super 64 tournament.

Following the summer Laguerre now claims a scholarship offer from the University of Rhode Island and additional interest from schools like VCU, Penn State, UMass, Xavier, and Florida Atlantic.

While that is, without a doubt, a very healthy list, we fully expect more schools to jump on board as Laguerre transfers to New Hampton and repeats his junior year.

The New Hampshire native just has too much offensive firepower.  He’s the rare offensive talent who can really get hot and when he gets in that zone there is almost nothing a defense can do to stop him.  He’ll blow by them off the dribble, stop and pop in the mid-range area, bounce up to finish in traffic at the rim, and make three pointers.

That ability to create his own shot at any time, and put points on the board in that much of a hurry, is something that most players can’t duplicate.  Equally impressive is that Laguerre’s biggest offensive onslaughts during the AAU season came on the big stages against the best competition.

In other words, even against the most athletic and talented teams and players Laguerre has gone through periods where he just couldn’t be stopped.  That bodes well for his future because at New Hampton he’ll be playing against top competition each and every night and if he continues to do what he did this past spring and summer coaches will undoubtedly take notice.

When that happens you’ll see interest turn to offers and that recruiting list will become a lot longer before it gets any shorter.
